Iranian short ‘Daily Massacre in Tehran’ to vie in Serbia

Iranian short film ‘Daily Massacre in Tehran’ is to compete at the 2022 Martovski fest in Serbia.

Iranian short film ‘Daily Massacre in Tehran’ has been selected to compete at the Martovski Festival – Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival in Serbia.

Directed by Hessam Hamidi, “Foad is a 12-year-old boy who comes to Tehran to make money and support his mother. He is willing and ready to take on any paying job, but each job brings with it a set of new challenges,” a synopsis for the short film reads.

The cast list of the film includes Hamid-Reza Karami, Mehran Atashzaee, Rouzbeh Sinaki, and Mehrnoush Salimi.

Written and produced by Hossein Tehrani, the film experienced its first international presence at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The short film has so far participated in several international film festivals, including the 2021 Odense International Film Festival (OFF) in Denmark, the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in the US, the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) in South Africa and the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema – in Brazil.

Martovski will bring the audience a wide range of films including documentaries and short films. The festival will also hold Q&A sessions, master classes and other programs.

The event will be held on March 29-April 2, 2022.
